Our Sicily Venue – La Residenza dell’Etna is situated in the mountain village of Trecastagni on the slopes of Mount Etna. The villa is set within a landscape of sprawling olive trees, citrus groves, and vineyards. The estate covers a large area of landscaped gardens, paths, and ponds, with sheltered shady furnished corners. La Residenza dell’Etna is scattered with ancient stone benches amid clusters of rose bushes and pine trees.

The Villa

The main villa of La Residenza dell’Etna is on two floors.  Downstairs has a large country-style living room with a fabulous floor-to-ceiling glass wall overlooking the garden. The kitchen is furnished with rustic dark wooden cupboards and a table and chairs that leads out to a large covered terrace.

Upstairs in the main villa is the master bedroom.  This large bedroom has a beautiful beamed ceiling and wood floor with an en suite bathroom, and a private terrace. There are also two double bedrooms on this floor that share a Jack & Jill bathroom with a shower.

The Chalets

La Residenza has five timber-clad cottages/chalets which are behind the pool area.  These chalets share a large patio.  Each chalet has one double bedroom and a bathroom with a hydro-jet shower. One of the chalets has a double bed as well as a single bed.

The lovely terrace with a gazebo is located between the main villa and the five chalets.

The Amenities

La Residenza dell’Etna has a sixth cottage which is a gym facility.  This chalet contains a range of quality exercise equipment.

There is a large heated, saltwater pool, surrounded by a paved area with deckchairs.  Adjacent to the pool is a jacuzzi, situated alongside the villa.  And close by there is a 4-seater sauna and outdoor shower.

The villa’s estate also includes a separate restored farmhouse.  This farmhouse has a large sitting room with a dining area and a country-style kitchen.  The kitchen has a wood-burning oven.  The farmhouse provides a lovely communal living and dining space for our group.

The basement of the farmhouse is used as a wine cellar.  The owner keeps the homemade wine that he sells here.  Trust me, we will definitely sample this wine!
